Location and Getting There
Me London is on the Strand in central theatre-land. It is across the road from the Lyceum Theatre, current home to the Lion King and the nearest Tube stations are Temple or Covent Garden. Either tube station is a 5 minute walk from the hotel. However, it is a 10 minute taxi journey from Euston. No matter where you are in London, this hotel is very easily accessed by all forms of transport.
Always ME City View
Our room was the standard room within the hotel. I wouldn’t normally spend as much on a hotel room for one night but this was a treat for me and my mum and our trip to the theatre. We had room 404 which faced out onto the strand and overlooked the nearby Waldorf Hilton Hotel. Walking into our room, we were amazed by the space within the room. The minimalistic and contemporary design meant there was more than enough room for two and we settled in.
As you walked into our room, the wardrobes were on the right with lots of hanging space, as well as drawers and shelves. On the left was a double sink with a giant mirror. At one end of the sink there was a door to the toilet and at the opposite end, a door to the shower. I have never had such a spacious central London bathroom within a hotel. The hallway of our room and the bathroom merged into one yet it was so well done that it still felt seperate yet made both the hallway and bathroom feel roomy and larger than it was. The shower was a rainfall shower which was amazing the following morning when i tried it.
Once you walked past the bathroom, you entered the main area of the room and we had a TV on the wall, a desk, kingsize bed and a table with 2 seats placed perfectly infront of the floor to ceiling windows. The room was so clean and minimalistic and I LOVED it. Although our room came with the standard Kingsize bed, we did have it split into two single beds because this girl cannot share with her quilt stealing mother..lol!

Facilities
The hotel had some great facilities. It offers 8 event rooms as well as a 24 hour gym. As always, being brutally honest I did not visit the gym. It was a whistle stop tour to London and we did not get chance to pop our heads in and take a look. However, the hotel website does note that the gym provides technogym and Peloton equipment. One other offering that surprised me was that the hotel is Dog friendly! Had I of realised this, I might have brought Tucker with us.
Dining
There we’re plenty of dining options at the ME London. Within the first floor as soon as you walk into the hotel next to the concierge there was the Marconi Lounge which is a bar serving a selction of hot and cold drinks, as well as alchaholic drinks. Within the hotel there was also 2 restaurants, STK and Luciano’s. The hotel is also home to the rooftop bar, Radio Rooftop. This is where guests would have their breakfast and also offers a lunch and evening menu as well as drinks all day.
my thoughts
Now, I do have to say this was a treat for myself and my mum. Would I normally pay what I paid for one night in a hotel? No. Would I pay that again for this hotel? Possibly. If I stayed here again, it would have to be a treat and not something I would do regularly. However, first impressions are everything.
When we first checked in, it was 2.30pm and the room wasn’t ready. Check in was 3pm so that was no problem. We went to the rooftop terrace, had a drink and came back down at 3.10pm. Our room still wasn’t ready so we chose to wait in reception after being told it would only be 10 more minutes. It was then a further 40 minutes until our room was ready. I understand that rooms might not be ready prior to the check in time, but if im spending £300+ on a hotel room for one night, I expect my room to be ready at the check in time. I do have to say it wasn’t just us waiting for our room that day, others were too.
We learned the next morning that check out is 12pm and check in is 3pm, which means there isn’t a huge window for staff to turn around the rooms which clearly seemed to be a problem during my time at the hotel.
overall
Overall I loved my stay at the ME London. It was a beautiful hotel and when you enter the reception area you are immersed into this marble pyramid with art pojections everywhere. It really is unlike anything else i’ve seen before in a central london hotel. The hotel was beautiful, clean and the hotel staff were wonderful.
Did the check in experience put me off going back? No, but if it happened again, I don’t think I would go back a 3rd time. I don’t mind spending my money on expensive things to try something once, but if I am paying a premium, I want to receive a premium service.
Whilst this was a minor issue, I have to commend the staff, especially the concierge. We had one conversation with the concierge on our arrival and he remembered us the next day, asked how our evening meal was and our show the night before and was so incredibly friendly. This is the kind of service I expect and it was wonderful.
Overall, I would stay here again if the timing, price and reasoning all fell together nicely. Especially with the incredible location but I hope to have a slightly better check in experience next time. First impressions are everything..
