Location and Getting There
Gran Melia Palacio De Isora is located in the most beautiful area. In the town of Alcala and at the foot of mount teide the hotel is located 25 minutes from Tenerife South Airport by car. The hotel also sits on the beach front and has it’s own private beach and beach club.
Once I stepped into the Gran Melia, my jaw dropped at the architecture and the expansive lobby. Filled with art and elegant furnishings, I quickly realised the luxury that was awaiting me. I was welcomed by the staff and shown to my room.
Deluxe Room
Firstly, the accommodations at Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora are nothing short of spectacular. I stayed in a Deluxe Room with an incredible view of the banana plantations and the hills of Gigantes. The room was beautifully designed, showcasing a perfect blend of modern features whilst also providing an authentic canarian feel. The bathroom was incredibly spacious with a seperate shower and bath tub as well as double sinks which is perfect for two sharing the room. The Deluxe room is the standard room and offers 516 square feet of space.
Dining
The resort boasts an impressive array of dining options. From the buffet at the Pangea Food Market to the Italian options at L´Olio, each meal I had was wonderful. Gran Melia offers 9 different restaurants;
- La Terrasse by Jorge Peñate
- Le Bistrot Provençal
- Oasis – Mediterranean
- L´Olio – Trattoria & Pizza bar
- Agave – Mexican
- Nami Asian Bistro
- Pangea Food Market
- Areia Beach Bar
- Duo Steakhouse
Facilities
The facilities at Gran Meliá Palacio de Isora cover a range of preferences. Whether you’re looking to unwind by one of the seven pools, indulge in a spa treatment, or take part in some water sports, the resort has a little something for everyone. The gym offers modern facilities along with qualified staff who can offer personal training as well as nutritional guidance. The resort also offers an adults-only section, named Red Level. This provides exceptional service and provides a exclusive and personalized touch, giving a more intense level of luxury and privacy.
Overall
My stay at the Gran Melia Palacio De Isora was one of my favourite stays in Tenerife. Having grown up visiting the island most years, I had never stayed in this part of town or at this resort and it blew me away. The staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful. I was fortunate enough to be welcomed with a fruit platter and complimentary bottled water and a personalised note when I got to my room. Their director of sales also met with me to give me a site tour of the resort and I got to learn so much about the property as well as see multiple different room types.
the only down side..
My only reservation about the resort was that the number of restaurants you can visit depends on the number of nights you stay. You cannot visit any restaurant on any night. As I stayed 3 nights, I could only visit 1 specialty restaurant and then the buffet restaurant the other nights unless I paid extra. For example, if you stay 7 nights, you can only have 4 nights in the specialty restaurants. Gran Melia already comes at a price tag so to know that there are slight restrictions on restaurants was a little dissapointing for me but knowing in advance means you can plan around this.
With that being said, I would highly recommend the Gran Melia Palacio De Isora. Whether your a couple, a family or even friends who want that little bit more of a luxury feel, then this resort is for you.
