If you know me by now, you know that New York City has my heart. The city that never sleeps and that calls my name constantly. I headed back to the city December 2022 for a trip with friends and our first hotel stop was the Sheraton Times Square!

location and getting there
Sheraton Times Square is in central Manhattan and just a short walk to Times Square. It is in a great location for seeing the sights of New York and so close to Bars, Restaurants and close to Central Park as well.
Getting to the hotel you can travel by Taxi or you can use the Subway. The nearest station is 7 Avenue Station and is just across the road from the hotel.
tradition guest room – 2 queens
Throughout our stay, we stayed in a traditional guest room with 2 queen beds. The room was a little small considering it had two beds in but it had enough room for the two of us. Our room had a desk and a TV as well as a full length wardrobe which is always handy.
The bathroom was a little small, but again big enough for the two of us. My only reservation about the rooms was that they were quite dated and dark which the photos online do not make it seem this way. Other than this, the room was great for our 2 night stay. The location made it worth it.
facilities
The hotel does offer a gym which we took a quick look at. It seemed spacious and clean but we did not use the gym facilites. There are also meeting rooms within the hotel should you need the meeting space.
dining
The hotel offered 2 dining options. The first was the Hudson Market which offered breakfast. We didn’t dine here as we chose to dine out for breakfast as we were constantly on the go. The second was the Library Bar. This offers a full menu and is central to the hotel entrance. We didn’t dine in the Library bar but we did have a few drinks in the bar and the cocktails were really good and there was a nice atmosphere.
overall
Whilst the Sheraton Times Square is in an amazing location, the hotel itself is not so amazing. Firstly, it’s dated and very gloomy. It’s also either incredibly under-staffed or overbooked.
Once we arrived at the hotel, we queued for over an hour to check in and the check in line only got longer as we stood there. The queue went from the back of the hotel to the lobby entrance (it’s a very big line) and snaked round as there were that many people queueing. It was pure chaos and not a good first impression. The hotel was so incredibly busy that the streets seemed quiet in comparison. There was one person on the check in desk dealing with hundreds of people yet there seemed to be other staff just standing around.
Our experience of the Library Bar was the same. Whilst the staff were nice and polite, the service was slow and simply seemed like there were too many guests for the number of staff.
Would I recommend the hotel? I don’t know. I think location wise yes, but for everything else no. It is a tough one because the hotel was comfy and clean but it just didn’t cut it for me, especially when you are paying New York prices!
